Hi !
My name is Cynthia Legault and I am a professional art painter from Quebec, Canada.
My works are inspired by the beauty of the world, nature, animals, and different aesthetic elements that I like. Through my paintings, I dive into my inner world, a cozy, colorful place where I grant myself the pleasure of expressing my thoughts about self-actualization and well-being. My art is shared as a symbol of hope, a voice to communicate positive vibes. My goal is to inspire others to find, within themselves, the strength and courage to achieve their dreams, while allowing them to bring beautiful colors to their lives.
My Story
Cynthia Legault is an art painter from Montreal. At a very young age, art was already a passion for her, a way of life. She could spend hours every day making her own greeting cards, scratch cards, writing little illustrated stories, and so on. There was never a shortage of interesting projects to look for.
The fact of having been raised in a difficult neighborhood of Montreal motivated her choice to pursue her higher education in a more traditional and safer program. She began her professional career with a university degree in psychosociology of communication in her pocket. But becoming a mother at a very young age helped her to continue to nourish her passion for the arts through her children, making Christmas decorations, drawings, sewing, jewelry making, etc.... Arts continued to be a part of her daily life.
It was at the age of 40, in 2020, when Cynthia's children were becoming adults, that she felt the immense need to return to art in a more serious way. She therefore decided to take online drawing courses with the EFEMBE school to refine her portrait techniques. These twice-a-week meetings, with her drawing table and sheets of paper, quickly became the highlights of her free time. She also began self-taught acrylic painting of animals and landscapes, sourced from random pictures. The results were satisfying and those around Cynthia were very impressed with her work. This is how she never stopped painting. In February of 2023, she enrolled in the MASTERY Program at the Milan Art Institute, which she completed in March 2024.
Specializing in mixed media, Cynthia mainly paints portraits of animal faces filled with emotion and lively looks, exploring themes linked to personal development of well-being and happiness. Cynthia's process is very gentle and semi-intuitive. It begins with charcoal sketches and then gives way to spontaneity and mixtures of techniques and materials. When she begins a creation, she does not know exactly which techniques will be integrated into her paintings. She prefers to embrace the emotions of the moment and let her work live. All of Cynthia's works are oil finished, a medium that she especially loves for its richness and depth of colors. Finally, considering that art is an integral part of her identity, and that Cynthia has touched artistic creation in different ways all through her life, we can expect her to surprise us with new concepts and ideas quite regularly.
